The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Barren County Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin-Simpson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Trojans like a good challenge.
Even though Russellville scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Franklin-Simpson still came out on top. Franklin-Simpson walked away with a 68-55 victory over the Panthers. Given Franklin-Simpson's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Panthers are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Barren County pushed their score all the way to 68 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 88-68 defeat at the hands of Butler County. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), Barren County still had to take the loss.
Franklin-Simpson pushed their record up to 12-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Barren County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.
Franklin-Simpson didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Trojans in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. Will Franklin-Simpson repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
