Owego Free Academy is 2-8 against Chenango Valley since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The River Hawks will face off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Owego Free Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Chenango Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Owego Free Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Groton as they made off with a 15-0 victory. Considering the River Hawks have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Geneva Crawford was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Dalton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Chenango Valley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Chenango Forks on Tuesday.
Not much got past Natalie Tyler, who gave up just five hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Chenango Forks off the board. Tyler has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chenango Valley's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Paske, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Paske's first of the season.
Owego Free Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Chenango Valley, their record is now 3-5.
Owego Free Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The River Hawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chenango Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Owego Free Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Owego Free Academy might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Chenango Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the River Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
