Softball Recap: Widefield Wins Going Away Against Liberty

Widefield came out on top against Liberty on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Gladiators put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 10-3 win. The Gladiators haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Olivia McEwen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Hall, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Monk, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Widefield's win bumped their record up to 5-0-1. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, Widefield will welcome Smoky Hill at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to square off against Doherty at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
