Welsh extended their winning streak to 11 on Friday, bumping them up to 12-5. They skirted past the Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy Tigers 7-5. That's more bragging rights for the Greyhounds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Grant Haydel made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Haydel was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Mallett, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Cohen Fontenot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Welsh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy only managed six.
