Softball Recap: Rensselaer Central Extends Winning Streak to Four

Rensselaer Central extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 15-8 in the process. They put the hurt on the Hebron Hawks with a sharp 14-5 win. Considering the Bombers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kami Davis made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kylie Spencer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Laney Westfall was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Rensselaer Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hebron only posted an OBP of .382.

As for Hebron, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

On Hebron's side, Addison Dujmovich was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Toczek, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Rensselaer Central has already played their next matchup (against Benton Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hebron, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-0 victory against Lake Station Edison on the 26th.
