Basketball Recap: Jordan Vick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Word of God Christian Academy National over SPIRE Academy

On Friday, the Word of God Christian Academy National Holy Rams came up short against the SPIRE Academy SPIRE and fell 70-59. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Holy Rams came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 48th in North Carolina, while the SPIRE are ranked 305th in Ohio).

Word of God Christian Academy National lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jordan Vick, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Vick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrion Ellis, who went 6 for 10 en route to 11 points.

Word of God Christian Academy National's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for SPIRE Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Word of God Christian Academy National wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-37 win against Bull City Prep National on the 25th. SPIRE Academy has also already played their next game (against Hargrave Military Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
