The Ponder Lions''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Whitesboro, falling 47-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ponder in their matchups with Whitesboro: they've now lost six in a row.
Ponder's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Gage Ersch, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Whitesboro was led to victory by Karter Sluder and Maxx Parker. Sluder gained 97 total yards and three touchdowns, while Parker rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Ponder's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Whitesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Ponder does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Whitesboro will head out on the road to face off against Jim Ned at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jim Ned will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
