Pickett County is 10-0 against the Buffaloes since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pickett County Bobcats will look to defend their home court against the Clarkrange Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. Pickett County will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Even though Red Boiling Springs scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Pickett County still came out on top. Pickett County secured a 65-59 W over the Bulldogs. Given Pickett County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pickett County relied on the efforts of Jacob Amonett, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and Nathaniel Cobb, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Amonett is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Eli Reagan, who scored five points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Clarkrange struggled with assists on Saturday (the Bobcats had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Clarkrange was beaten by the Bobcats 82-52. Clarkrange was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-26.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jack Cordell, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristopher Beaty, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Pickett County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Clarkrange, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Pickett County against the Buffaloes in their previous meeting on Saturday as the team secured a 82-52 win. With Pickett County ahead 50-26 at the half, the game was all but over already.
