Burges proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Benson Bobcats. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on four straight.
Evan Ortiz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Abraham Bueno, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The victory got Burges back to even at 4-4-2. As for Benson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3-1.
Coming up, Burges will challenge Pueblo at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Benson, they will take on Empire at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
