Cripple Creek-Victor lost to Denver Academy on the road by a decisive 65-50 margin on Saturday. Cripple Creek-Victor has struggled against Denver Academy recently, as their match on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Cripple Creek-Victor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Myles Durham, who scored 22 points. Durham continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Woods, who scored 11 points.
Denver Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nolan Monasch out in front who scored 24 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Monasch has scored at least a third of Denver Academy's points. Riley Allen was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Cripple Creek-Victor has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Denver Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cripple Creek-Victor on the road again on Monday and play against Custer County at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Custer County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Denver Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Gilpin County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gilpin County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
