Biloxi is 9-1 against Gautier since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Biloxi Indians will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Gautier Gators at 6:30 p.m. Biloxi is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Biloxi beat Pascagoula 11-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Kya Gammons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk every time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Imani Shannon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Jolee Shaver was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Biloxi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
While Gautier didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Moss Point with a sharp 19-2 victory on Monday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 14 runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Madison Williams, who went a perfect3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Chloe Davis, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Gautier's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15.7 runs. As for Biloxi, their record now sits at 3-1.
Biloxi took their victory against Gautier when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Biloxi since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
