The Northeastern Clinton Cougars put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Beekmantown 47-30. Given Northeastern Clinton's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Beekmantown is ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Beekmantown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Payton Parliament. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Parliament's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Northeastern Clinton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Beekmantown, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern Clinton is on the road again on Thursday and play against AuSable Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Beekmantown, they will face off against Ticonderoga at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
