You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between San Benito and Weslaco last week. San Benito crushed Weslaco last week, winning 64 - 14. San Benito had two big standouts, as senior Tyrone Harper earned two touchdowns and 115 yards rushing the ball, while senior Erick Retta threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns. Harper went long for a 83-yard TD catch in the first quarter, one of the game's most exciting plays.
As for Harlingen, the match between Harlingen and Hanna was close at the half, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the final score. Harlingen has to be hurting after a devastating 32 - 6 defeat at the hands of Hanna last game. Senior Samuel Alonzo didn't go down without a fight, though. He put up some defensive resistance with 12 tackles.
Harlingen's defeat dropped it to 5-4 while San Benito's win brought it to 9-0. Harlingen's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a San Benito defense that got seven sacks against Weslaco last week. We'll see if it is up to the challenge.
