Baseball Recap: Clopton Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clopton waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Elsberry Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Hawks have posted against the Indians since April 20, 2015.

Peter Daskalakis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Tucker Salmons was a standout: he scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Salmons is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Adam Lindsay was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Clopton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Elsberry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Coming up, Clopton will be playing at home against Silex at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elsberry, they will square off against Community at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
