Basketball Recap: Crestview's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of eight wins, Crestview's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 76-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Walton Beach Vikings. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Vikings are ranked 232nd).

Leading Fort Walton Beach to victory were Dylan Ivison and Xy Childres. Ivison went 9 of 12 on his way to 24 points and three steals, while Childres went 7 for 11 on his way to 24 points. What's more, Ivison also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Khamani Leonard was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Crestview's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Fort Walton Beach, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5.

Crestview will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Marianna at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th. Fort Walton Beach will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against JAG at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
