Softball Recap: Sumner Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sumner had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the South Kitsap Wolves with a sharp 21-2 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Josslyn Sorensen made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sorensen was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Riley Meyers was incredible, firing off two home runs, five runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Emma Hixon was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Sumner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sumner's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for South Kitsap, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Sumner will challenge Rogers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for South Kitsap, they will face off against Curtis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
