ROWVA/Williamsfield is a perfect 8-0 against Biggsville West Central since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will take on the Heat at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Biggsville West Central will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: ROWVA/Williamsfield extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Cougars came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Henry-Senachwine. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 19th.
Talan Hull made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hull was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
ROWVA/Williamsfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Biggsville West Central won against Knoxville on Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Heat beat the Blue Bullets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Heat.
Like ROWVA/Williamsfield, Biggsville West Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Cooper Gibb. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Gibb a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Colton Spence was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten contests.
Biggsville West Central pushed their record up to 6-17 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
ROWVA/Williamsfield took their victory against Biggsville West Central in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
