The Troup Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Boston Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Troup will be strutting in after a victory while New Boston will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Grand Saline scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Troup still came out on top. Troup narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Grand Saline 38-35. The win made it back-to-back wins for Troup.
Troup's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trae Davis, who picked up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Brett Wells, who gained 96 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matches, New Boston finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were beaten by Hooks 54-3. While losing is never fun, New Boston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 600th, while Hooks is ranked 159th).
Troup's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for New Boston, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
