Wardlaw Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Laurens Academy Crusaders as the Wardlaw Academy Patriots made off with a 19-8 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Taylor Hill (JR) was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kya McCormick ( SR), who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Wardlaw Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurens Academy only posted a batting average of .250.
Looking ahead, Wardlaw Academy will host Hammond at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Laurens Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Spartanburg Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
