The Lackey Chargers managed to keep up with the Northern Patriots until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Lackey was the victim of a rough 53-28 defeat at the hands of Northern. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lackey has suffered yet this season.
It was another big night for Mikayla Jones, who scored 16 points along with eight steals and two blocks for Northern. That's the first time this season that Jones posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Makayla Marvray, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Lackey's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-7. As for Northern, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lackey will take on La Plata at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (La Plata is ranked 217th, while Lackey is ranked 208th). Northern will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th.
