The Wharton Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Wharton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
It was a proper cat-fight when Wharton duked it out with Plant on Saturday. Wharton fell just short of Plant by a score of 11-10. The Wildcats have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Gabriella Greco made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Parker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Greco wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Wharton lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cypress Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They skirted past Wiregrass Ranch 3-2.
Emily Bowling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Oakley Riley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Cypress Creek pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.7 runs. As for Wharton, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Both Wharton and Cypress Creek just can't seem to miss. Wharton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like Cypress Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wharton came up short against Cypress Creek in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, falling 4-1. Can Wharton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
