Two dominant guards in Quincy Reynolds and Braden Stephenson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Madison Cubs will be playing at home against the Carroll County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Saturday, Madison was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 99th).
The losing side was boosted by Reynolds, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Davis, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carroll County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Trinity Christian Academy on the road by a decisive 62-47 margin.
Madison's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-12. As for Carroll County, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.
