The Springfield Yellow Jackets fell victim to the Southwind Jaguars''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Jaguars, falling 62-0. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Southwind is ranked 27th).
It was another big night for Kelvin Perkins, who threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Perkins hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Denerrius Mallette made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Springfield has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Southwind, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southwind will stay at home for another week and welcome Beech at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Beech is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
