The Mount Academy Eagles will be playing at home against the Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Mount Academy's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Hunter-Tannersville has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Even though Pine Plains scored an imposing 64 points on Wednesday, Mount Academy still came out on top. Mount Academy took down Pine Plains 78-64. Given Mount Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Pine Plains is ranked 582nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mount Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Baird led the charge by scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baird has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jake Maendel, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hunter-Tannersville had to suffer through a rough 67-26 loss at the hands of South Kortright Central.
Mount Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Hunter-Tannersville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
