ThunderRidge has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Saguaro Sabercats in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, ThunderRidge beat Rocky Mountain 44-39.
ThunderRidge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Kayser-cochran, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The match was Kayser-cochran's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Chloe Parker was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Saguaro waltzed into their contest Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 67-42 margin over American Leadership Academy. Saguaro might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five contests by 25 points or more this season.
Alexa Simpson was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Saguaro's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Mitchell, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
ThunderRidge's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Saguaro, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's contest: ThunderRidge have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Saguaro, though, as they've been averaging only 5.4 threes per game. Given ThunderRidge's sizeable advantage in that area, Saguaro will need to find a way to close that gap.
