Parker is 1-9 against Minor since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Thundering Herd will challenge the Tigers at 12:00 p.m. Parker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Parker took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Carver Montgomery. The result was nothing new for the Thundering Herd, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Parker let Leah Ray and Marley Allen run wild. Ray got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Allen went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits Allen has posted since back in March. Kamila Dabney was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .565 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Minor came up short against Shades Valley on Thursday and fell 6-1.
Minor saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniyah Westbrook, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Minor's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Parker, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Parker hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Minor struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Parker might still be hurting after the 27-19 defeat they got from Minor in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Thundering Herd avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
