The Angleton Wildcats will take on the La Porte Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Angleton sitting on eight straight victories and La Porte on five.
Angleton is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Fort Bend Kempner: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wildcats blew the Cougars out of the water with a 49-0 final score. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Angleton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Neyland out in front who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. Neyland's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jayden Moore also helped with two TDs in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Angleton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 374 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 208 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ace Simple, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, La Porte's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Crosby by a score of 28-21. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Cougars are ranked 271st).
La Porte's win came from a few key players Angleton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sean Simon, who rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Simon is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Smith, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one score.
Angleton's record is now 8-0. As for La Porte, their record now sits at 7-1.
Angleton came out on top in a nail-biter against La Porte in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 24-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
