Basketball Recap: River View Comes Up Short

River View played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 78-40 loss at the hands of the John Glenn Little Muskies. The Black Bears have struggled against the Little Muskies recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

River View lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Layton Massie, who posted seven points and eight rebounds. Massie is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Carter Wesney was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, River View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Leading John Glenn to victory were Stehl Bates and Brayden Davis. Bates put up 19 points along with six boards and six steals, while Davis dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Those six steals gave Bates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of William Nicolozakes, who had nine points.

River View now has a losing record at 2-3. As for John Glenn, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

River View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-71 loss against Philo on the 20th. As for John Glenn, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 72-31 victory against Morgan on the 20th.
