Even though the Woodward Boomers scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, the Liberal Redskins still came out on top. Liberal enjoyed a cozy 81-65 win over Woodward. Liberal pushed the score to 58-37 by the end of the third, a deficit Woodward cut but never quite recovered from.
Liberal was led to victory by Zayden Martinez and J. Brooks Kappelmann. Martinez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Brooks Kappelmann dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brooks Kappelmann has scored all season. James Fieser was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Liberal's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Woodward, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberal will face off against Hooker at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodward, they will head out on the road to square off against Duncan at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
