The Mountainair Mustangs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They were the clear victor by a 64-39 margin over Animas. This was payback for Mountainair, who suffered a 46-36 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Animas still got an impressive performance from Diego Renteria, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Renteria hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Lemuel Mcdonald was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Mountainair's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Animas, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Mountainair and To'hajiilee will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Animas will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lordsburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
