The Plant City Raiders entered their tilt with the Hillsborough Terriers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Plant City walked away with a 55-43 victory over Hillsborough on Friday. Given Plant City's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Hillsborough is ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plant City was led to victory by Leroy Lucas and Gavin Tinsley. Lucas scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Tinsley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Tinsley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamin Andrews, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Several Terriers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryan Hamilton, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Hamilton hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Cummings, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Plant City pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Hillsborough, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plant City will take on Robinson at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Robinson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday. As for Hillsborough, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Wharton at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Wharton is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
