It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wilson had no problem doing just that on Friday. They slipped by Franklinville/Ellicottville 21-20.
Meanwhile, Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. Everything went their way against Randolph as Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama made off with a 31-7 win. Given Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Randolph is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tate Catanese got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 226 yards and a touchdown while completing 76.5% of his passes. Carter Brink did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.
Wilson pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.3 points per game. As for Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Wilson was taken down by Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama 41-13 in their previous meeting back in September. Can Wilson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
