Baseball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Arrupe Jesuit's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Denver West Cowboys 16-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Generals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gerardo Saucedo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Saucedo was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Osmar Garcia was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Carlos Salais was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Arrupe Jesuit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver West only posted an OBP of .480.

Arrupe Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Denver West, they are on a 39-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

Coming up, Arrupe Jesuit will host Denver Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.08 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Denver West, they will face off against Arvada at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
