After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Minneapolis South, the Roosevelt Teddies were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They snuck past Como Park with a 81-76 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Roosevelt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Obie Esparza, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Esparza pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Calvin Peterson, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Como Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on North Community at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Como Park is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Highland Park at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Highland Park is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
