Polo is 0-4 against Morrison since May of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Marcos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m.
Polo came into this matchup off a tough 13-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Pecatonica by a score of 9-7 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Marcos have suffered since April 5, 2025.
Camrynn (Cam) Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Emma Porter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Morrison had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Pirates 14-4. Considering the Mustangs have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Duncan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Morrison got a massive performance out of Elle Milnes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Scachette, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Morrison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Morrison's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Polo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Polo might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Morrison when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Marcos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
