Marshall is 2-8 against Longview since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Marshall Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Longview Lobos at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Marshall has not done well against Texas recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Marshall came out on top against Texas by a score of 74-67. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Marshall.
Meanwhile, Longview can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They really took it to Pine Tree for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-49 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Longview has posted since December 28, 2023.
It was another big night for Robert Blandburg, who scored 20 points along with three steals and two blocks. Drew Ward was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists.
Marshall's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-15. As for Longview, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.
Marshall was taken down by Longview 92-48 when the teams last played on January 2nd. Can Marshall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
