The Greenfield-Central Cougars put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Southport with points to spare, taking the game 71-56. Greenfield-Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Braylon Mullins, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Robertson, who scored 13 points.
Despite the defeat, Southport saw an underclassman step up: James Kalala scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Kalala has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Michael Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Greenfield-Central's victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Southport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenfield-Central and Yorktown will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Yorktown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Greenfield-Central is ranked 14th). Southport and Bloomington North will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Bloomington North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
