The Columbus North Bull Dogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Brownstown Central Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Columbus North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Columbus North was able to grind out a solid win over Jennings County, taking the game 6-2.

Bailee Scruggs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley McClellan, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Avery Shehan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Brownstown Central hadn't done well against Jeffersonville recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Braves were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Red Devils. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Shyla Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Kinzee Dean was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Brailey Teipen also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Brownstown Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Columbus North pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Brownstown Central, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Brownstown Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Columbus North has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Brownstown Central, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 strikeouts. Will Columbus North keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
Columbus North came out on top in a nail-biter against Brownstown Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bull Dogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
