The Naugatuck Greyhounds put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 35-14 margin over Seymour. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Jett Hall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. Hall really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Naugatuck also got a significant boost from Jaylin Martinez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 101 yards.
Naugatuck's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Torrington and 1-8 Wolcott (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.9% over those games). As for Seymour, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Naugatuck and Ansonia will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Ansonia is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Seymour will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Woodland Regional at 6:30 p.m. on November 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Woodland Regional is ranked 66th, while Seymour is ranked 82nd).
