Wahama has gone 8-2 against Ritchie County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The White Falcons will take on the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Wahama is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Wahama is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Harrison County, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Wahama was ranked ninth). The White Falcons had just enough and edged out the Thorobreds/Fillies 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the White Falcons.
Elissa Hoffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kalyn Christian, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Staats, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Ritchie County hadn't done well against St. Marys recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rebels never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since April 8, 2024.
Not much got past Rocklyn Marcum, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep St. Marys off the board. Marcum has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ritchie County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Satterfield, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Wahama's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Ritchie County, their record is now 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wahama has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ritchie County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wahama might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Ritchie County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the White Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
