Westview and Mt. Carmel are an even 5-5 against one another  since February of 2020, but  not for long. The Westview Wolverines will square off against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Westview and ten for Mt. Carmel.
Westview is headed into the  match out to prove that what happened against San Marcos  on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Westview was beaten by San Marcos 92-45. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 507th, while the Knights are ranked 32nd).
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel ended up a good deal behind Poway on Tuesday and lost  65-50.
 Westview will have to contain  Makai Orje as he made an impact in Mt. Carmel's last game. He  went 8-for-15  en route to 20  points. Orje continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Tyler Humphrey, who  posted eight points and five  rebounds.
 Mt. Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Westview, they now  have a losing record of 13-14.
 Westview came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Carmel in their previous meeting  back in January, sneaking past  36-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westview since the  team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
