Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Harrison Central's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Harrison Central hadn't done well against Martins Ferry recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Huskies blew past the Purple Riders 12-6. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mikayla Pelegreen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Harrison Central got a massive performance out of Kara Blackburn, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Blackburn a new career-high. Cameron Campbell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Harrison Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martins Ferry only posted a batting average of .344.

Harrison Central has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Martins Ferry, their loss dropped their record down to 17-3.

Harrison Central has already played their next game, a 6-3 defeat against Oak Glen on the 2nd. As for Martins Ferry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-3 win against Shadyside on the 30th.
