Dalhart is 0-10 against Bushland since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolves will host the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Dalhart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Dalhart is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canadian.
Dalhart saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydni Hyer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Sadie Marrufo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Bushland came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 19-1 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.
Brooklyn Briano made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bushland got a massive performance out of Addison Appier, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Appier is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charley Spinks, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Bushland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches.
Bushland's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dalhart, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dalhart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Bushland struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dalhart suffered a grim 19-3 defeat to Bushland in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Wolves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
