The Bothell Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Arlington by a score of 81-72. The victory was all the more spectacular given Bothell's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Arlington is ranked 102nd).
Bothell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jarell Fermon led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jaylen Mclaughlin was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Despite the loss, Arlington still got an impressive performance from Leyton Martin, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Martin's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Falor, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Bothell and bumps their season record up to 2-8. As for Arlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bothell will take on Newport - Bellevue at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Newport - Bellevue is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Arlington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marysville-Pilchuck at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Marysville-Pilchuck is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
