Page has gone a perfect 10-0 against Monument Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sand Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Page is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Page blew Chinle out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Chinle got their revenge. The Sand Devils fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-5. The Sand Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Makenna Nez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Shanelle Tallsalt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monument Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Tuba City 14-13. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Blu Peterman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Peterman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Etsitty, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Meya-Raye Bahe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Monument Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Monument Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Page, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-8.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Page hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. However, it's not like Monument Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Page took their win against Monument Valley in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Sand Devils repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
