Asotin is 1-7 against DeSales since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will host the Irish at 2:00 p.m. Asotin has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Asotin is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Colfax, falling 18-8.
Elizabeth Alicea made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, DeSales had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Irish, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Caroline Kutsch was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, DeSales got a massive performance out of Theresa Holtzinger, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Holtzinger is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Roslyn Block was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
DeSales kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
DeSales' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Asotin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
Asotin might still be hurting after the 13-5 loss they got from DeSales when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
