Pearl River Central was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Gautier. The Blue Devils came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
Picayune extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region 4 this week by beating Long Beach, 84-19. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Zack Fuller made the biggest impact on defense this week as East Central topped West Harrison. The sophomore recorded one fumble.
Canen Cooper was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 157 yards as the Hornets bested the Gators. Teammate Jake Eaker added to the ground attack by rushing for 111 yards.
Rosine was the best wideout in the league this week as Eric Collins' team defeated Gautier. Rosine tallied two receptions for 62 yards. Desmond Michel helped Pearl River Central's passing attack out by catching one ball for 34 yards.
Stacey Warren put up the best numbers through the air as Pascagoula beat Moss Point. He finished with a total of seven completions for 104 yards and one touchdown. Warren's favorite target this week was Breland Hoye, who caught three passes for 53 yards.
The Tigers' Anthony Mitchell and Antwan Mitchell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Mitchell has thrown for 1148 yards this season, while Mitchell, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 20 catches for 381 yards. Doug Cross from Picayune leads the league in rushing with 910 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Blue Devils and the Panthers. Pearl River Central enters the game ranked 25th in the state, while Pascagoula ranks 24th.
The Maroon Tide's Cross needs only 90 yards against the Hurricanes next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Blue Devils take on Lewis Simms' team. Pearl River Central has allowed 69 points this season, while the Panthers have given up 119. The Blue Devils allowed 0 points last week as they bested Chris Peterson's team.
Pearl River Central took down the Gators 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Steven Kubicki ran for 87 yards in the win.
