Bryson Cardinal was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 30 points and 14 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryne Paris, who posted nine points and seven assists.
Guerin Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They racked up 14 more assists than University's also-impressive total of ten.
Meanwhile, Lebanon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a 79-50 loss at the hands of Harrison. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since February 9, 2024.
Guerin Catholic will have to contain Jack Ferrell as he made an impact in Lebanon's last game. He shot 70% from the field on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Chase Perdue also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.
Guerin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. Lebanon's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Guerin Catholic has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Guerin Catholic against Lebanon in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the team secured a 61-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Guerin Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
