In what's become a running theme this season, the Carolina International Comets gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Jackson Day 69-32 at home. The win was familiar territory for Carolina International who now have five in a row.
Leading Carolina International to victory were Landon Griffin and Malaki Long. Griffin scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Long scored 19 points along with seven assists and four steals. Long also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Jefferson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Carolina International's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.8 points per game. As for Jackson Day, they now have a losing record at 15-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carolina International won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. One thing working in Sugar Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matches. As for Jackson Day, they and the Patriots will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Liberty Preparatory Christian is ranked 481st, while the Mariners are ranked 467th).
