The Magoffin County Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 12th straight defeat. They suffered a tough 62-37 loss at the hands of Floyd Central. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Magoffin County of the 65-50 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
It was another big night for Riley Compton, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Floyd Central. Compton hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Engle, who scored nine points.
Magoffin County dropped their record down to 1-20 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.2 points per game. As for Floyd Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Magoffin County will stay at home for another game and welcome the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Floyd Central will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
